Driver IC for takes on high-power LEDs
Melexis has developed a new programmable single chip CMOS LED driver for high-power (1W) LEDs.
The IC minimises onboard power requirements and reduces parts count in a final reader product.
With the addition of a micro-processor, crystal, and a few passive components a full functioning reader can be easily developed.
The MLX12115 is a drop-in replacement of Texas Instruments' S6700.
The device supports multiple RF air interfaces, such as Tag-it transponder, ISO15693 and ISO14443A and opens with the direct mode where data can be passed directly to a transponder.
The MLX12115 is now in volume production and Melexis is committed to long term support of this product.
"Our MLX12115 can be seen as the successful pioneer of Melexis' well known RFID high frequency transceivers ICs family, the MLX90121 and its upgraded version, the MLX90131 which provides full ISO14443A/B (respectively up to 106s and 848Kbit/s) and ISO15693 support", says Patrick Albert, Melexis' RFID Business Unit Manager.
The MLX12115 is offered in a -40 to +85C version and in the industry standard SSOP20 pin package for surface mount manufacturing.
