Panel mount printers need no separate power supply

An enhanced range of panel-mount printers for OEM equipment has its own switch-mode power supply, bringing cost and performance benefits.

Martel Instruments, specialists in the design, development and manufacture of LCDs and compact printers, has enhanced its range of panel mount printers.

By adding a 10 to 35V DC switch-mode power supply to the majority of its panel mount series, the printers are now suited to nearly all OEM application requirements.

Included in its MPP5300 series, plus the MPP5500 and MPP5600 ranges, Martel's new 10 to 35V DC printers have been introduced as an alternative to its existing 5V DC devices.

Developed specifically to meet the requirements of OEM equipment, which is typically designed with 12V and/or 24V rails, the new switch-mode power supplies bring both cost and performance benefits.

Eliminating the cost burden of adding a separate power supply, the new switch-mode operation enables OEMs to produce equipment more efficiently, and the device itself offers superior capability and ease of use.

In addition, peak current is decreased while maintaining print speeds, bringing a reduction in heat generation and providing cost-effective performance.

Including standard Molex 3.96mm KK connectors for power input, Martel panel-mount printers are available with a range of connector options for RS232 serial, TTL or Centronics parallel interfaces.

With a choice of thermal or impact mechanisms, the range offers versatile control circuitry contained within compact and robust ABS enclosures.

Designed to minimise either front-panel area, or depth behind the panel, paper and ribbon changing is easily achieved via hinged front doors.

In addition the MPP5500 and MPP5600 series offer the advantage of an "easy-load" paper system.

A wide choice of print control modes and international characters are available, with fixed-head thermal units allowing high-resolution graphics and barcode printing.

Impact printer units use highly reliable Epson printer mechanisms, and offer a versatile, low cost printing solution.
