Airflow Developments' recently introduced UA6 handheld anemometer relies on key components manufactured by the Fareham-based Membrane Keyboard Company and its associated company Wavemar Electronics for its unrivalled accuracy and repeatability These components include the complete tactile membrane keypad, the mixed technology printed circuit board and the transducer head assembly

Membrane also provides functional test of the PCBs and assembly, tuning and functional testing of the three-pole transducer head.

Final calibration of the instrument is carried out by Airflow.

Over the past five years the companies have developed a close working relationship, with Membrane supplying a variety of keypads, associated electronics and assembly services for many of Airflow's instruments.

The UA6 is an extremely versatile instrument, which uses Airflow's unique ultrasonic technology to measure air velocity, volume flow and airstream temperature.

It has a reading response rate of less than 1ms and a world-beating measurement range of 0.01 to 50m/s.

Applications include heating, ventilating and air conditioning, aeronautical R and D, meteorological and wind power, process control and environmental, tunnel ventilation and offshore rigs.

Membrane and Wavemar are both ISI9002 approved companies, and offer a range of services including the design and manufacture of membrane keypads, electronic assembly, electromechanical design and build turnkey projects/project management.

For a growing number of customers, the two companies provide a fully integrated package from design to full production.
