Organic capacitors perform better for longer
New aluminium organic capacitors from Micromark C and CD sustain their capacitance at high operating frequencies, thereby enabling component count and system cost savings.
The new 3V, 256Kbit family of NVSRAM is aimed at server applications and uses Simtek's quantum trap silicon-nitride nonvolatile storage technology to provide short store times and unlimited read/write and recall cycles.
Devices have an EEPROM element incorporated in each static memory cell, where nonvolatile data reside.
Options are available for quick auto-store or software prompted store on power-down.
Once power is restored the recall operation is automatic.
A 68uF or larger capacitor tied from Vcap to ground guarantees the store operation regardless of power-down slew rate or loss of power from "hot swapping".
The new devices are available with access times from 35 to 55ns and with an option of either commercial or industrial temperature ranges from -40 to +85C.
