Micromark C and CD has new speech synthesis ICs from Oki, supported by Windows-based development tools allowing rapid development of speech enhanced products.

The speech synthesis portfolio includes the Oki MSM9811, featured for gaming and audio applications, with four-channel mixing stereo output, built-in 4bit DAC and integrated volume control.

External ROM up to 128Mbit can store up to 256 phrases, with a choice of sampling frequency and ADPCM variants including standard ADPCM as well as 4 and 8bit Oki proprietary coding for enhanced efficiency and speech quality.

The Oki MSM9845 includes 8/16bit databus interface, IIC interface and built-in 1Kbit FIFO, for applications such as in-car navigation systems.

When combined with an external CPU or DSP, the MSM9845 forms a two-chip solution capable of retrieving and processing voice data from CD, DVD or Flash across the databus.

4 and 8bit Oki ADPCM algorithms yield enhanced voice quality, and the chip also includes an integrated 14bit ADC and sample rate convertor.

Packaged in 56-pin QFP, the MSM9845 operates from 2.7 to 5.5V supply, from -40 to + 85C.

The AR204 voice analysing and editing tool supports the full range of Oki speech synthesisers.

AR204 is a Windows 95/98/2000 compatible development package including a desktop waveform editor, composite playback editor, ROM file editor and ROM writer control.

Analogue or wave PCM file inputs to the PC-ISA card may be edited and converted to binary or Intel hex format files for loading onto the speech LSI's externally connected ROM.

Further Oki speech synthesis family members feature built-in ROM allowing speech features to be added to products such as video cameras, PDAs and other handheld terminals.
