Save space with shrinking USB connectors
The new series of mini-BTM USB connectors from Molex take up only about 1/8th of the space of standard USB-B connectors.
Power connectors meet SSI specifications
The new DPS/MPS power connectors from Molex meet the Server System Infrastructure (SSI) open specifications for backplanes.
This acquisition offers Molex new capabilities in the Americas to stamp flex circuitry, automatically circuit-etch, vacuum laminate, as well as drill multilayer flex at the tightest tolerances.
The newly combined capabilities of the two businesses complement Molex's global network of sales and value-add facilities enabling the company to provide a full range of services.
The merger contributes to Molex's continuous effort to bring more value to customers through integrated solutions.
The investment will also help to strengthen the company's role as a supplier of innovative, high-end interconnection products for data communications, medical and military electronics.
"With Century Circuits, Molex acquires a facility with very advanced in-process circuit test strategies", comments Michael Nauman, President of Molex's Integrated Product Division.
"The company now has state-of-the-art vision systems with closed loop monitoring solutions to assure quality at each step of the circuit production process".
The acquisition also brings Molex the most advanced technology in automated X-ray test solutions and the knowhow to provide measurement and defect data for every solder joint tested.
Hidden through-hole joints and components under shielding are also easily verified with the automated X-ray test.
Flex circuit assemblies are an ideal complement to connectors and have significant synergy with existing Molex membrane switch and printed circuit board assembly operations.
Already, Molex is providing interconnection solutions combining high-pin-count backplane connectors and sub-1mm-pitch SMT connectors with flex assemblies.
"Molex will continue to expand the services it can offer to system engineers developing technically sophisticated electronics".
"This is a key-element in the strategy to expand our business", said Nauman.
