The new MTP-CPI (coplanar interconnect) from Molex is the only MT-ferrule-based interconnect designed specifically for coplanar applications.

MTP-Coplanar Interconnect from Molex Offers Interconnectivity for ATCA Zone 3 and Board-to-Board Applications The new MTP-CPI (coplanar interconnect) from Molex is the only MT-ferrule-based interconnect designed specifically for coplanar applications As the Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (ATCA) continues to be adopted by system designers, there will be a need for an optical coplanar interconnect to handle future bandwidth requirements

The MTP-CPI is intended to meet the dimensional requirements of the ATCA, Zone 3, connector specifications.

When used in coplanar applications, the MTP-CPI results in maintenance flexibility and minimal service interruption, since it allows front cards to be replaced without disrupting cables at the rear of the chassis.

The MTP-CPI is not limited to ATCA architectures, and may be used in any coplanar application, such as internetworking, telecommunication and test and measurement equipment.

It is easy to design-in and is mounted directly to the card with a simple pass-through cutout in the backplane.

The MTP interconnect is the optical interface for the MTP-CPI because it meets telecom industry standard interface specifications for multi-fibre and parallel optical transceiver applications.

MTP interconnects are available in fibre counts from 8 to 72 fibres.

The MTP-CPI interconnects are available in rear-mount and side-mount styles, providing flexibility for boards with limited space.
