Save space with shrinking USB connectors
The new series of mini-BTM USB connectors from Molex take up only about 1/8th of the space of standard USB-B connectors.
Power connectors meet SSI specifications
The new DPS/MPS power connectors from Molex meet the Server System Infrastructure (SSI) open specifications for backplanes.
"We designed Impact to push the speed and density envelope of backplane interconnects in order to meet the growing demands of next-generation telecommunication and data networking equipment", said Brian Hauge, New Product Development Manager, Molex.
"The Impact system properly balances the speed, density, cost and long-term reliability requirements of our customers' current and future systems needs".
Molex' Impact product is one of the fastest, densest backplane connector on the market today.
At over 20Gbit/s data rates, Impact provides significant channel performance headroom for future system upgradeability in both traditional backplane and midplane architectures.
Moreover, the Impact system offers two compliant pin design options so designers can balance their electrical and mechanical application needs.
The Impact backplane connector system has a broad-edge coupled, hybrid shielding design, providing low cross-talk, insertion loss and minimal performance variation across all high-speed channels.
It follows a simple 1.90 x 1.35mm grid on both backplane and daughtercard that helps to reduce PCB routing complexity while supplying adequate spacing for high-speed routing.
In addition, two compliant pin options are available that help properly balance the mechanical and electrical performance of the system.
The daughtercard mating interface features inline staggered, bifurcated contacts that provide two points of contact for long-term reliability performance and built-in ground-signal sequencing.
This reduces the average mating force per connector to improve the mechanical mating performance of the system.
The Impact backplane connector system supports the IEEE10G BASE-KR standard and is OIF State Eye Channel compliant.
Impact is available now in three, four, five and six-pair versions, with a complete range of guidance and power solution options.
