Design methodology bridges gap to fabrication
Monterey Design Systems describes System-Driven Physical Design as the first design methodology to enable physical chip implementation from system to GDSII tapeout of SoCs up to 100 million gates.
Hierarchical approach adds structure to design
Monterey Design Systems has announced version 2.2 of IC Wizard, the hierarchical design planner that drives its System-Driven Physical Design solution.
Version 1.5 includes significant improvements to the optimisation algorithms in Monterey's patented Global Design Technology to reduce total memory usage by 20% and increase performance by 65%.
These improvements enable Monterey's customers to achieve design closure much faster than with version 1.3.
Improvements include electromigration-driven clock tree routing.
This is important for customers designing using deep submicron technologies at 0.13um and below.
Improvements such as this are continually added to Dolphin without compromising the robustness of the solution and the high quality of results.
Sonar, the company's physical prototyping tool, is also available with version 1.5.
Sonar predicts design closure in a fraction of the time it takes a large design to be physically implemented.
Using Sonar, logic designers can quickly determine if the original RTL design architecture and constraints can be physically implemented for a given set of objectives.
Designers can confidently choose their design architectures early in the design cycle using Sonar.
The Sonar 1.5 release includes a number of powerful capabilities such as full-chip static timing analysis and the ability to zero in on a critical path and perform logic optimisation and relieve congestion in one environment.
Allowing customers to purchase its products in a variety of ways, Monterey has innovative and flexible business models that align financial rewards to its customers' success.
A 3-year time-based licence in Europe is $150k/year for Sonar and $360k/year for Dolphin.
