Design methodology bridges gap to fabrication
Monterey Design Systems describes System-Driven Physical Design as the first design methodology to enable physical chip implementation from system to GDSII tapeout of SoCs up to 100 million gates.
IC Wizard was chosen by Fujitsu for its ability to drive an SoC top-down design implementation and provide a scalable and predictable flow for timely design closure.
IC Wizard was evaluated by Fujitsu using a 1.5 million-gate design with 158 memory macros.
"IC Wizard automatically achieved in a few days a chip design plan that matched in quality an existing design plan at Fujitsu that took our design team over six weeks of manual effort", said Masami Yamazaki, Manager of the ASIC Technology Centre, Transport Systems Group at Fujitsu.
"As we explored the tool further, we were impressed with the usability, technology and versatility of IC Wizard".
"Fujitsu's vision of delivering highly integrated SoC designs for networking and mobile communications within a very short market window perfectly matches Monterey's system-driven physical design approach", said Jacques Benkoski, president and CEO of Monterey.
"IC Wizard allows Fujitsu to manage and automate the physical implementation of very large and complex chips for leading system applications in a very efficient flow".
Fujitsu is using IC Wizard for the production of a complex 2.2 million gate hierarchical design with 125 memory macros.
This complex chip addresses the cutting-edge requirements of the evolving cellular market.
"The block-based technology of IC Wizard will provide Fujitsu with a time-to-market advantage for these large ICs", added Yamazaki.
