Audio amp miniaturises Class D solutions
A new monolithic 5-20W Class-D audio amplifier dramatically reduces solution size by integrating all its functions into one tiny PDIP or SOIC package.
The MP7720 is a monolithic 5-20W Class-D audio amplifier which dramatically reduces solution size by integrating 180mohm power MOSFETs, startup/shutdown, short circuit protection circuits and mute/stand by (sleep) functions into one tiny PDIP or SOIC package.
The MP7720 uses a single-ended output structure capable of delivering 20W at 24V into 4ohm speakers.
More, all MPS Class-D audio amplifiers exhibit the high fidelity of a Class A/B amplifier at efficiencies greater than 90%.
The design makes use of MPS' proprietary variable frequency topology that delivers excellent power supply rejection ratio, with fast response time and operates on a single power supply.
The new IC operates from a single 9.5 to 24V supply, and features a THD+N of 0.04% at 1W, 8ohm.
Noise performance is low at 190uV typical.
The device is suitable for designing into consumer home entertainment equipment, including surround sound DVD systems, televisions, flat panel monitors, multimedia computers and home stereos.
An evaluation board is available.
