A highly integrated step-down convertor requires only five external components for full functionality.

New from Monolithic Power Systems, the MP2112 is a highly integrated step-down device that requires only five external components for full functionality In addition, a 1MHz operating frequency combined with a space-saving, RoHS compliant 3 x 3mm QFN package provides designers with an ultracompact 1A synchronous step-down supply

The MP2112 achieves up to 95% efficiency without an external Schottky diode.

With a maximum duty cycle of 100%, output can be regulated at any voltage between the input and a low 0.6V.

A wide 2.5-6V input voltage range makes this device ideally suited for personal communications and networking products as well a handheld devices.

Additional features of the MP2112 include short circuit and thermal fault protection, a low shutdown current, integrated power MOSFETs, and an internal compensation network.

Pricing for the MP2112 is $1.39 in 1000-piece quantities.
