According to Gartner Dataquest's report: "Communications semiconductor and optical component market share in 2000", the communications semiconductor market, excluding optical components, grew 41.5% in 2000.
Motorola continued to be the largest supplier, shipping over $4 billion of semiconductors in 2000.
Many industry analysts predict that the market for wired and wireless semiconductors will triple over the next five years, reaching $110 billion by 2005.
