Motorola has announced full availability of its MPC500 familly of Flash microcontrollers.
The MPC500 Flash microcontrollers are single-chip 32bit solutions that are designed to provide the flexibility that electronic systems designers need for cost-effective field software upgrades through in-application programmability and reprogrammability.
Optimised for complex embedded control applications, the MPC555 is ideal for use with advanced high-level code-generating tools that require a floating point unit (FPU) for efficient code generation, and for control of complex mechanical system such as multi-axis robotics.
The intelligent timer system is capable of monitoring multiple sensors and driving multiple actuators with minimum CPU servicing.
As with all Motorola microcontroller lines, a comprehensive suite of hardware and software development tools are available for the MPC500 Family to simplify and shorten customers' development cycles.
Development support is available from Motorola and leading independent tool developers for tools such as processor probes, logic analysers, debuggers, simulation development environments, C and C++ compilers and emulators.
The MPC555 is available now in production quantities, with pricing starting at $49.42 for (US suggested list) for 1000 pieces.
Samples of the MPC561 and MPC565 will be available to the general market in early 2002 with production quantities available in the second half of the year.
