On Booth 945 at LinuxWorld in San Francisco from 9th to 11th August 2005 Freescale will demonstrate several Linux-based solutions.
Freescale's digital entertainment centre based on the Linux operating system running on a platform based on the PowerPC architecture will be featured.
The digital entertainment centre demonstrates virtually all the entertainment capabilities of a typical household in one box - DVD, music CD, video files (MPEG2, MPEG4), broadcast TV, pictures and games.
Freescale's turnkey solution for consumer wireless device manufacturers, the i.MX21 Linux portable media player, will be featured along with an i.MX31 MPEG4 multimedia codec demo.
Both showcase higher levels of video and graphics capabilities, plug and play connectivity and smart power management for long battery life.
Freescale's CodeWarrior tool suites for Linux OS allow users of the ColdFire and PowerPC architectures, along with the industrial controls community, to quickly and easily assimilate the Linux OS into next generation products.
With its line of CodeWarrior development tools for Linux and strong relationships with top embedded Linux players, Freescale is helping customers create successful products that combine the stability and cost-saving benefits of embedded Linux OS with the power and advanced technology of Freescale silicon architectures.
Freescale is also a Platinum sponsor at LinuxWorld Beijing, from 17th to 19th August 2005.
Bill Dunnigan, Vice President and General Manager of Freescale's Computing Platforms Division will give a keynote talk on the second day of the event.
Freescale and its partners, Hopen Software, MontaVista Software, UDTech and USI, will showcase various Linux solutions in the Freescale booth including streaming media server, LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, Perl/PHP) server, home media centre, V2IP platform, automotive-grade Linux and Linux development tools.
The China Software and Integrated Circuit Promotion (CSIP) centre, a division of the Ministry of Information Industry (MII), also will be located in the Freescale booth to share ongoing activities in the joint Freescale CSIP lab that focuses on solutions for the PowerPC architecture and Linux software.
