The collaborative solution is designed to shorten development cycles and accelerate time to market for solutions developed around the MPC5200 embedded processor, based on the PowerPC architecture.
The mobileGT reference platform with the SimpleWare Auto embedded software is complete with a wide variety of I/O and the hardware necessary to develop scalable software solutions for advanced digital media players.
"The convergence of digital media between the car and home is occurring rapidly", said Anand Ramamoorthy, General Manager of Freescale's Infotainment, Multimedia and Telematics Division.
"Teaming with Universal Electronics extends the mobileGT platform's advanced digital media capabilities to allow simultaneous playing/ripping of music in the car, support for multiple portable media players and network synchronisation of the home PC with the car".
Target applications include digital music/photo/video source units, digital media players integrated with GPS navigation systems and automatic, intelligent synchronisation of media between automotive units and home PCs via USB and wireless IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi connections.
