"Offering immediate shipment of Actel's new Igloo starter kits allows engineers to quickly evaluate and incorporate Actel's new Igloo family of FPGAs into their newest designs".
The Igloo starter kit is a complete package for quick evaluation of Actel's Igloo family and prototype designs.
Detailed current-monitoring capabilities of the starter kit allow users to directly measure low current consumption and validate performance when using Igloo devices.
The onboard programmer enables easy experimentation with ISP, device serialisation and FlashLock on-chip security system.
The low-cost all-inclusive Igloo starter kit contains a development board with an AGL600-FGG256 device, Actel Libero IDE Gold Edition design and development software, FlashPro3 programmer built into the board, user's guide with PCB schematics and a sample design.
Igloo devices are billed as the lowest-power FPGAs in the world and are based on nonvolatile Flash technology used in ProASIC3/E devices.
Low dynamic power consumption, combined with low static power consumption and Flash-Freeze technology, gives Igloo devices the lowest total system power offered by any FPGA.
The Igloo board includes Flash-Freeze technology which enables entering and exiting an ultra-low-power mode that consumes as little as 5uW while retaining SRAM and register data.
Flash-Freeze technology simplifies power management through I/O and clock management, with rapid recovery to operation mode.
The AGL600-FGG256 device in the starter kit is fitted to the centre 16x16 pins of the 22x22 array on the board.
The kit has full access to all RAM and Flash memory on the board, as well as two of the main 40-pin GPIO interface blocks for interconnection with other boards.
In addition, designers can use secure AES-encrypted programming and set the AES decryption key value when using this starter kit.
The kit also offers full access to LVDS signals provided for dual-channel LCD control.
