MPC Data is to provide support for Texas Instruments' new DaVinci technology in the EMEA region The DaVinci technology is an integrated collection of hardware, software and tools that has been introduced by TI to enable quick and simplified development of highly compatible video applications

As a long-term partner of TI, MPC Data will fully embrace the platform to assist customers with the development of innovative solutions that bring out the best in their technology, while also getting products to market in the fastest possible time.

Analysts, such as IDC, iSuppli and InStat have predicted that the number of devices featuring video applications will increase by almost 50% in the next three years, fuelled by rising demand for applications such as personal video recorders, IP and digital TV and home security.

Developing video solutions is currently a challenging task because of the need to use proprietary technologies, which are inflexible.

The lack of a comprehensive platform for the development of video applications prompted TI to develop its DaVinci technology.

The DaVinci technology is comprised of optimised software, development tools, integrated silicon and full support.

"The DaVinci technology is the perfect choice for any company developing a display device".

"The platform's scalability, integration and compatibility allow the rapid development of products", says Frank Breeze, Commercial Operations Manager and primary DaVinci technology contact at MPC Data.

"Every month a product is delayed in getting to market means developers lose a greater proportion of potential revenue".

"Using DaVinci technology will vastly simplify the design cycle and decrease challenges that often occur when using proprietary hardware and software".

"We anticipate a vast increase in the number of digital video products and applications in the very near future, and our partnership with TI will ensure that MPC Data will be in an excellent position to drive this growth", states Steve Harper, Managing Director of MPC Data.

MPC Data has many man years experience in supporting TI's technology.

The company has a talent for developing innovative software solutions and is also highly knowledgeable, both in the development of digital video applications and in the embedded software market.

MPC Data and TI expect the DaVinci technology to dominate this area, enabling customers to quickly develop differentiated, fully featured products.

MPC Data has the internal skill set to fully support developers who wish to take advantage of the DaVinci technology, including extensive experience in developing for ARM CPU cores across many commercial markets.

MPC Data also has a vast knowledge base in areas such as operating systems, device drivers, communications software, instrumentation, machine control and data acquisition, ensuring that customers have full support for the entire product development cycle.

"DaVinci technology is the first complete offering of an open platform that will enable digital developers to easily innovate cutting-edge products".

"MPC Data's exemplary work with other TI platforms demonstrates the company has the expertise in integrating our hardware with a wide variety of operating systems, applications and software".

"They are an ideal supporter of TI's DaVinci technology in the EMEA region", states Jean-Marc Charpentier, DSP Business Development Manager EMEA, Texas Instruments.

"MPC Data will be backed by TI's excellent support network to ensure the company is fully prepared to offer a comprehensive service from the first market launch of the first DaVinci silicon".
