Hittite Microwave Corp has released the first in a series of fully integrated high power amplifier modules which are ideal for cellular/3G repeater, laboratory and automatic test equipment (ATE) applications.

The HMC-C008 power amplifier module provides 40dB of gain, and a minimum output P1dB of 15W from 1.8 to 2.2GHz.

Under W-CDMA test conditions, the HMC-C008 provides an outstanding +32dBm of channel output power at -54dBc ACPR.

For CDMA2000 applications, the HMC-C008 delivers +32dBm of channel output power at -66dBc ACPR.

This module is extremely robust and offers a number of built-in protective features.

The RF input and output of the HMC-C008 is internally matched to 50ohm and DC blocked, and the RF output is further protected by an internal isolator.

The HMC-C008 operates from a single positive supply range of +13 to +15V, and is internally regulated and protected from overvoltage and reverse voltage polarity.

An enable feature allows the user to remotely switch the power amplifier module on and off with a logic level input.

Internal temperature sensors and built-in thermal fault protection circuitry protect the unit from insufficient heatsinking conditions by automatically removing DC power from the active circuitry when the base plate temperature exceeds +70C.

Two specially designed fan-cooled heatsinks are available for 115 and 230V AC applications.

The HMC-C008 is unconditionally stable and internally compensated to maintain typically +/-1.0dB of gain variation and +/- 0.5dB of Output P1dB variation over the operating temperature range of 0 to +50C.

This power amplifier module uses Hittite's standard MMIC amplifier products taking advantage of the company's design, manufacturing and quality knowledge base.
