Hittite Microwave Corporation has introduced two ultra-low-noise GaAs MMIC x2 active frequency multipliers in 3 x 3mm RoHS compliant SMT packages.

Hittite Microwave Corporation has introduced two ultra-low-noise GaAs MMIC x2 active frequency multipliers in 3 x 3mm RoHS compliant SMT packages.

These new broadband multipliers are ideal for use in LO multiplier chains in microwave and Vsat radios.

When driven with a 0dBm signal, the HMC448LC3B x2 active frequency multiplier provides +11dBm of typical output power, excellent Fo and 3Fo isolations of 24dBc, and low SSB phase noise of -135dBc/Hz at 100kHz offset.

The 20 to 25GHz output frequency range of the HMC448LC3B makes it ideal for use in the generation of a half rate clock for 40Gbit/s systems, or as part of a multiplier chain to generate a full rate 40Gbit/s clock.

The HMC449LC3B x2 active frequency multiplier has an output frequency range of 27 to 31GHz, providing +9dBm of typical output power from a 0dBm input signal, and Fo and 3Fo isolations of 30 and 25dBc, respectively.

The low additive phase noise of -132dBm/Hz at 100kHz offset helps the user maintain good system noise performance.

The HMC448LC3B and HMC449LC3B accept a wide input power range of -4 to +6dBm, and both operate from a single +5V supply consuming only 50mA of current.

The HMC448LC3B and HMC449LC3B are housed in RoHS-compliant 3 x 3mm leadless SMT packages and are available from stock for sampling or sale from MRC Components.
