A new wideband MMIC VCO is ideal for industrial/medical test and measurement equipment, military communications, electronic warfare, and electronic countermeasures applications.

Hittite Microwave has developed a new wideband MMIC voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) that is ideal for industrial/medical test and measurement equipment, military communications, electronic warfare (EW), and electronic countermeasures (ECM) applications from 8.0 to 12.5GHz The HMC588LC4B wideband HBT MMIC voltage controlled oscillator incorporates the resonator, negative resistance device and varactor diode

This fully integrated MMIC VCO provides an output tuning range of 8.0 to 12.5GHz, high output power of +5dBm and low SSB phase noise of -93dBc/Hz at 100kHz offset.

The tuning port of the VCO accepts an analog tuning voltage from 0 to +15V, and accommodates a very fast 65 MHz tuning bandwidth.

The HMC588LC4B operates from a single +5V supply and consumes only 55mA of current.

This wideband VCO uniquely combines the attributes of ultrasmall size, low phase noise, low power consumption and wide tuning range.

The HMC588LC3B MMIC VCO is housed in a RoHS compliant 4 x 4mm SMT package which requires up to 85% less PC board area than a hybrid based VCO.

Datasheets are available from MRC Components.
