Hittite Microwave Corp has extended its line of high performance GaAs HBT MMIC VCOs with fundamental, half and quarter frequency outputs.

These SMT packaged VCOs are ideal for microwave radio, test equipment, military and industrial sensor applications from 11.5 to 14.9GHz.

The HMC515LP5E, HMC529LP5E and HMC531LP5E GaAs HBT MMIC VCOs are housed in RoHS-compliant, 5 x 5mm leadless SMT packages with a common pinout.

These VCOs integrate resonators, negative resistance devices and varactor diodes, and feature fundamental, half and quarter frequency outputs.

The HMC515LP5E, HMC529LP5E and HMC531LP5E MMIC VCOs tune from 11.5 to 12.5, 12.4 to 13.4, and 13.6 to 14.9GHz, respectively.

Output power and phase noise performance are excellent over temperature, shock and process thanks to the oscillator's monolithic structure.

If the prescaler function is not required, it can be disabled to conserve current.

This family of fully integrated VCOs requires no external components, provides output power of +7 to +10dBm, and delivers very low SSB phase noise of -110dBc/Hz at 100kHz offset.

Samples and evaluation PC boards for all SMT packaged products are available from representative MRC Components.
