The Marvell Alaska X 88X2010 serial 10 GbE transceiver provides the industry's highest integration and unprecedented levels of functionality for optimisation of next-generation 10 Gigabit LAN implementations.
The Alaska X 88X2011 device, the first IEEE 802.3ae compliant serial 10 GbE WAN transceiver, enables 10 GbE transmission over Sonet networks.
As enterprise networks continue the transition from Fast Ethernet to Gigabit Ethernet, existing Gigabit uplinks must transition to 10 Gigabit to accommodate this 10x growth in bandwidth.
This transition requires higher density, smaller form factor optical module and silicon solutions.
With the current 10 Gigabit optical modules migrating to smaller XAUI-based modules as well as serial 10 Gigabit-based modules, the Marvell Alaska X devices are optimised to support both types of implementations.
This latest advancement in Marvell's industry-leading physical layer (PHY) technology now enables OEMs to rapidly develop highly optimised 10 Gigabit Ethernet with advanced functionality and the lowest power.

The Marvell Alaska X 88X2010 device is a dedicated LAN PHY device with advanced functionality to optimise next-generation Gigabit physical layer implementations.
The device enables highly compact XAUI-based modules by integrating a limiting amplifier and the latest digital optical monitoring (DOM) functions as specified by XENPAK, XPAK and X2 multi-source agreements.
The Marvell device also features advanced clocking modes for optimum XFP module-based implementations.
The Marvell Alaska X 88X2011 device is the first serial 10 Gigabit transceiver to enable 10 Gigabit Ethernet over SONET networks, an important vehicle to transfer data across a WAN connection.
Enhanced WAN PHY functionality is achieved with on-chip IEEE802.3ae WAN Interface Sublayer (WIS) functionality.
For the first time, module manufacturers can now create a single XAUI-based optical module with flexibility to support both LAN and WAN PHY options.
