Users of Keithley Instruments' data acquisition boards can now communicate with their devices directly from Matlab via an interface provided with the Matlab Data Acquisition Toolbox.

This interface makes it simpler for users of Keithley data acquisition devices to acquire data within the Matlab environment.

With this functionality, Matlab can serve as the primary data acquisition and data analysis environment for users of Keithley boards.

"Many Matlab customers and prospects have asked The MathWorks to add support for Keithley data acquisition hardware.

This increased connectivity benefits users of both Keithley hardware and Matlab by unifying and simplifying their test and measurement setup.

This allows users to get to the heart of their work faster - analysing their collected data", said Jane Price, Test and Measurement Marketing Manager at The MathWorks.

"Getting data from a Keithley data acquisition board and into Matlab now becomes a simple process requiring only a few simple steps", said Ted Thorbjornsen, Business Manager, Keithley Instruments.

"Matlab users now gain easy access to Keithley's large portfolio of plug-in boards".

The Data Acquisition Toolbox provides users with interfaces for analogue input, analogue output and digital I/O from multiple suppliers of PC-compatible data acquisition hardware.

Keithley data acquisition boards offer instrument-grade measurement precision in resolutions from 8 to 20 bits with a broad range of analogue and digital I/O capabilities in both ISA and PCI formats.

Users can also employ the Matlab Instrument Control Toolbox to interface with Keithley Instruments via the GPIB (IEEE488) standard.

The Data Acquisition Toolbox 2.1 requires Matlab 6.1 and is currently shipping for Microsoft Windows 95, 98, 2000, ME, and NT.
