Test probes are easier and safer to use

A Multi-Contact (UK) product story

Multi-Contact has upgraded its award-winning Isoprobe series of safety test probes for high-frequency engineering applications.

Multi-Contact has upgraded its award-winning Isoprobe series of safety test probes for high-frequency engineering applications.

The Isoprobe II incorporates a range of new and enhanced performance features including improved electronic characteristics and increased dielectric strength, making it ideal for testing with oscilloscopes.

Touch-protected to 1000V, CAT II in accordance with IEC/EN61010-2-031, the Isoprobe II's compensation system is integrated in its handling part thus eliminating the need for an awkwardly placed compensation box on the connecting lead.

Each probe is fully insulated to assure safe usage by operators and is specially moulded for nonslip handling.

Indeed, particular importance has been placed on the probe's ergonomic design and this has been recognised with the achievement of an iF Design Award granted by the Industrie Forum Design Hannover.

In addition, the BNC connection has also been enhanced to allow a significantly greater number of connecting cycles to be made without the loss of quality suffered by conventional alternatives.

The probe casing is die-cast from a zinc alloy, ensuring comprehensive screen shielding from the probe's tip to the BNC plug.

Shielding can also be connected to a reference point via a new integrated 2mm safety socket which allows measurements to be carried out in small or restricted spaces.

The result of these design enhancements is an expanded series of test probes ranging from an entry level economy model to a professional high quality version, covering dividing ratios from 1:1 to 100:1 and offering a choice of 150, 250 and 450MHz versions.

Also available is a demodulated probe designed for measuring high-frequency signals using an ordinary multimeter and the Actiprobe set of 'active' probes.

These device types combine extremely low input capacity with a wide frequency range that makes them ideal for high frequency measurements requiring the undistorted display of steep signal pulses.

Leads for all probe versions are supplied in a standard length of 120cm, with an optional 250cm length also available, and all ratings are colour-coded for easy identification.

Completing the product choice is a wide range of complementary push-on accessories that include probes, grabbers, BNC adapters and reference clips.
