Multi-Contact has expanded its CombiTac modular connector system with new fibre-optic and coaxial versions that offer enhanced performance flexibility and greater applications support Based on a modular design construction, the CombiTac is a plug connection system that adapts to the specific requirements of individual customer applications

Due to its compact design it is ideal where space is at a premium, but where power, signals or data transmission are needed.

As part of its latest additions to the series, Multi-Contact has introduced new connectors for plastic optical fibre cabling (POF-LWL multimode) that are specially designed for telecomms and datacomms installations, together with new CombiTac coaxial connectors that are particularly suited for broadcast applications, including RF and CCTV.

As a result, the CombiTac portfolio now features nine modules of various dimensions that can be freely combined to give numerous plug connector types.

CT-E8-2, for example, is designed to take two contacts at diameters of 8mm and current ratings of 150A; CT-E3-3 can take three of 3mm in diameter and rated at 35A; and 26 contacts measuring just 1mm in diameter and rated at 5A current can be slotted into CT-E1-26.

All modules are rated at 300V Cat III.

All CombiTac connector frames are supplied pre-assembled so that end users only have to attach the cables and insert the contacts into the modules to the desired configuration.

Operational in a temperature range of -40 to +90C, each socket is protected to IP20 standards.

For power and signal installations, each device is fitted with the proprietary MC Multilam system - gold-plated beryllium copper, multiple louvered bands - providing outstanding electrical contact.

One of the principal advantages of the CombiTac connector series is the ability to mix high current applications alongside control, RF and video all within one 'easy to plug-in' connector.

This makes for a virtually unlimited range of applications including, telecommunications, computer technology, machine and plant control systems and many others.
