By using 3M LC Hot Melt connectors, installers benefit from the factory-injected 3M hot melt adhesive which avoid the issues of inconsistent mixing or application of epoxy as well as adhesive shelf life issues.
Furthermore, polishing is three to four times more consistent because of the simplified process and tooling.
Rosemary McGlashon, 3M said: "The launch of 3M LC Hot Melt is as a result of customer demand for an easily deployed, reliable connector system for fibre networks".
"The product has been extensively tested and has been found to excel in even the most extreme conditions".
The 3M LC connector is recognised in the industry for its small form factor design.
Combined with 3M hot melt technology, it is ideal for premises and LAN applications.
The 3M Hot Melt LC is another example of 3M expertise in the termination of high bandwidth fibre optic backbones as well as fibre to the desktop.
Installers who already have a 3M hot melt kit can buy an LC expansion kit that includes a weighted polishing jig, which gives a finish that provides precise centring of the physical contact (PC) at the fibre end face.
This results in high performance with low optical loss and reflection.
The 3M Hot Melt LC connectors are available through 3M's distributors.
