Metrowerks has completed its acquisition of select technology assets from Applied Microsystems Corporation.

Metrowerks has completed its acquisition of select technology assets from Applied Microsystems Corporation.

In September, Metrowerks announced plans to purchase Applied's run control and software analysis tools.

This includes the NetROM, PowerTAP, CodeTAP, SuperTAP and CodeTest products, as well as AMC's game development console manufacturing business and DVD emulation technology.

"We are acutely focused on responding to and meeting customers' needs, even if it means looking outside to acquire technology", said Jim Welch, President and CEO, Metrowerks.

"This asset acquisition is indicative of our strategy to broaden our technology base and move to a more solutions-based model".

Metrowerks plans to enhance the TAP and CodeTest families to add support for new architectures, such as Motorola's revolutionary new PowerQUICC III SoC architecture.

The AMC CodeTest product line, with its patented instrumentation technology, provides one of the most comprehensive software analysis and verification tool suites in the industry today.

The AMC TAP family of microprocessor emulation products enables in-circuit debugging during the early phases of embedded designs, such as board bring-up, board support package (BSP) development, and device driver development.

Metrowerks' CodeWarrior products featuring AMC technology are available now.
