Tools speed multiformat 3G basestation design
A new development system works with Motorola's MRC6011 RCF device and StarCore DSP to facilitate the creation of baseband processing systems supporting multiple 3G standards.
Developers using Motorola's new MRC6011 reconfigurable compute fabric (RCF) device to create next-generation 2.5G and 3G wireless basestation applications can soon leverage an RCF-specific integrated development environment (IDE) from Metrowerks to speed and simplify the creation of powerful, flexible and cost-efficient wireless networking equipment.
CodeWarrior Development Studio for Motorola reconfigurable compute fabric (RCF) technology works with Motorola's MRC6011 RCF device and MSC8126 StarCore DSP to facilitate the creation of high-performance baseband processing systems supporting multiple 3G standards including WCDMA, CDMA2000 and TD-SCDMA.
"CodeWarrior Development Studio for RCF technology supports Motorola's immediate and longer-term market evolution toward lower cost base stations with increased functionality", said Lynelle McKay, Vice President, RF/DSP Infrastructure Systems Division, Motorola.
"The Metrowerks IDE helps developers reduce the costs and complexities of building wireless infrastructure equipment by adapting to the evolving wireless standards and speeding time to market".
The industry-standard Metrowerks IDE provides a comprehensive and easy-to-use design environment for the entire baseband development cycle.
The CodeWarrior Development Studio for RCF includes an RCF editor, a C-compiler, and a multiple core debugger all in a single, consistent environment.
The IDE also provides integrated symbol rate DSP and advanced chip rate RCF tools, enabling C language programming throughout the baseband (symbol and chip rate).
"CodeWarrior Development Studio for Motorola RCF leverages the same award-winning design environment used for DSP and host processor software development, allowing baseband developers and equipment manufacturers to increase capacity, maintain low-power dissipation per channel, and deliver high-performance end products", said Calvin Harrison, NetComm Industry Manager, Metrowerks.
Metrowerks CodeWarrior Development Studio for Motorola reconfigurable compute fabric (RCF) device is expected to be available by Q4 2003.
