CodeWarrior Development Studio for HC(S)12, Data Expert Edition uses a simple high-level standard language to generate C code directly into the CodeWarrior project environment.

CodeWarrior Development Studio for HC(S)12, Data Expert Edition components include: an extended debug module with an emulator-like tracking capability to facilitate the development of complex applications to help reduce costs associated with expensive emulators, while offering the same information needed to produce quality end products; Metrowerks' integrated development environment (IDE), version 5.5 with docking windows and project wizard to facilitate the creation of projects; the Processor Expert design tool for new derivatives; I/O stimulation for validation of large portions of code prior to hardware availability and for real-time control of various stimuli to the application; and data visualisation capabilities for graphical representation of hardware, enabling the user to test and verify the operation of the application.
