The PMD-1608FS is the latest addition to the Personal Measurement Device (PMD) product line from Measurement Computing Corp.

The PMD-1608FS is the latest addition to the Personal Measurement Device (PMD) product line from Measurement Computing Corp The new USB-based DAQ module offers performance claimed unheard of in its price range

The PMD-1608FS provides eight simultaneously sampled, 16bit analogue inputs with continuous multichannel sample rates up to 100Ksample/s and burst sample rates up to 200Ksample/s.

In addition to the powerful analogue input capability, the unit provides 8bit digital I/O and a 32bit counter.

The PMD-1608FS performance, packaging and $399 list price makes it unique in the market.

Legacy technology PCI-DAQ products with similar simultaneous sampling specifications sell for more than $2000.

"We're very proud of this revolutionary product", states Measurement Computing CEO Ben Bailey.

"Our engineering team has done an outstanding job creating a product that offers this combination of measurement accuracy, high performance and small size.

Perhaps most remarkable of all is that the PMD-1608FS offers input accuracy and noise performance equal to that offered by 16bit DAQ board products, from MCC, NI, and other vendors, all at one-seventh the price of comparable PCI based DAQ".

The PMD-1608FS is supported by an impressive array of software, which includes software that meets the needs of both programmers and nonprogrammers.

Included with each purchase are: TracerDAQ, a powerful, ready-to-run oscilloscope, strip chart recorder, and data logger application (with free source code available); InstaCal, an easy-to-use installation, test, and calibration application; Universal Library, a robust and easy-to-use programming interface for all popular Windows and NET programming languages; UL for LabView, a complete PMD-1608FS LabView driver; and SoftWire DAQ components that provide a complete SoftWire interface as well as a comprehensive set of data acquisition related NET components.

The PMD-1608FS is also compatible with Matlab, Labtech and most popular third-party data acquisition application software.

The PMD family is fully compatible with USB 1.1 as well as USB 2.0, and is supported by the Windows 98SE/Me/2000/XP operating systems.

At 3.25 x 3.125 x 1in high, the PMDs are large enough to make connecting field wiring easy, yet small enough to fit on even the most crowded bench.

Uncased OEM versions with either screw terminals or high-density connectors make the PMD-1608FS an attractive alternative to in-house designs.

Magnetic and Velcro mounting options along with a 0.225in attachment hole make mounting easy, even in unconventional installations.

The attachment hole can also be used by a cable lock or padlock in applications where unit security must be protected.
