New low-cost chip inductors are aimed at manufacturers seeking to cost-reduce existing products, as well as designers of new equipment where reduced component costs are important.

In order to help customers reduce costs, Murata has launched a range of low-cost chip inductors, available immediately, significantly below current prices, making them highly competitive in the market The BLM18TG series of chip ferrite beads are offered at impedances of 120, 220, 600 and 1000ohm (+/-25%), with a rated current of 200mA (100mA for the 1kohm part) and DC resistances of 0.25, 0.3, 0.45 and 0.6ohm, respectively

The parts are all offered in the space saving 0603 case size and are supplied on 10,000-unit reels for high volume pick and place manufacturing environments.

Designed as a low cost alternative for the existing BLM18AG series, the new parts are aimed at manufacturers seeking to cost-reduce existing products, as well as designers of new equipment where reduced component costs are important.

The BLM18 chip ferrite beads function as a resistor at high frequencies, thereby greatly reducing the possibility of resonance and leaving signal waveforms undistorted.

The devices are effective in circuits without stable ground lines as no connection to ground is required.

Typically, the beads are effective in noise suppression applications across a wide frequency range from 10MHz to several hundred megahertz.

The robust construction, with nickel plating of the external electrodes, provides excellent solder heat resistance even when using high temperature, lead free solder processes.

These devices are suitable for practically any application requiring a low cost, 0603 ferrite bead.

The BLM18TG series chip inductors are already in mass production at Murata's Azumi plant, and the factory is prepared for high volume orders.

Standard manufacturing lead time is 8 to 12 weeks.
