EMI suppressors fit in small footprints

A Murata Electronics (UK) product story

BLM02 devices provide EMI suppression and prevention of abnormal oscillation in mobile phone power amplifier modules.

Murata's new family of BLM02 signal line EMI suppressors features nominal dimensions of only 0.4 x 0.2 x 0.2mm, matching size reductions of other passive components.

BLM02 devices provide EMI suppression and prevention of abnormal oscillation in mobile phone power amplifier modules and other space-limited designs.

The small chip ferrite beads function almost like resistors at noise frequencies.

They greatly reduce the danger of resonance and leave signal resonance and signal waveforms undistorted.

The new beads are especially useful when no stable ground-line is available because they require no ground connection.

Generating impedance from relatively low frequencies, BLM02 series EMI suppressors are effective in noise suppression over a wide frequency range (typically 30MHz to several hundred MHz).

Murata offers nominal values of 10, 70 and 120ohm, with rated currents of 500, 250 and 200mA respectively.

Maximum DC resistance values are 0.1, 0.5 and 0.8ohm and the operating temperature range is -55 up to +125C.

Pb-free nickel-barrier external electrodes provide excellent soldering heat resistance for reflow soldering.

The small size of BLM02 components yields a 33% reduction in reel changes due to the increased capacity from the size reduction.
