ZigBee radios support serial and USB interfaces
Stand-alone XBee-Pro radios allow for quick connections to both RS232 and USB enabled devices.
Adding more flexibility to the line of Products supporting the ZigBee and 802.15.4 standards, MaxStream has released stand-alone XBee-Pro radios that allow for quick connections to both RS232 and USB enabled devices.
The stand-alone XBee-Pro radio is completely compatible with networks operating on XBee and XBee-Pro technology and includes a durable aluminium housing, 2.1dBi dipole antenna and the choice of an RS232 or USB connection.
"The recent release of our ZigBee-ready modules saw a huge customer response, and now we are making the XBee Product line easier than ever for OEMs and integrators to embrace this emerging wireless technology and incorporate it into an existing design", said Nick Mecham, MaxStream's Vice President of Business Development.
"The transparent communication capabilities of the XBee stand-alone radios will be ideal for a wide variety of applications that simply need to connect a computer or other device with a common serial [RS232 or USB] interface to the wireless network".
The 2.4GHz XBee-Pro stand-alone radio features the 100mW (EIRP) XBee-Pro RF module, which is capable of transmitting up to 1.4km line-of-sight.
Communicating at up to 250Kbit/s, the XBee-Pro is ZigBee-ready and will be upgradeable to the latest ZigBee compliant networking protocol as it becomes available.
Both the RS232 and USB radios (part numbers XBP24-PKC-R and XBP24-PKC-U) are now available for purchase directly from MaxStream for $99 each and will be available in August from electronics distributors and resellers.
