Young entrepreneurs top Utah region poll

The founding executives of MaxStream have received the 2006 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in the technology category of the Utah region.

The founding executives of MaxStream have received the 2006 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in the technology category of the Utah region.

According to Ernst and Young, the award recognises outstanding entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic Utah-based businesses.

Brad Walters, Hugh Nielsen, Nick Mecham and David Steed were selected by an independent panel of judges, and the award was presented during the annual gala event at the Salt Palace Convention centre on 16th June 2006.

"Speaking on-behalf of the managing founders of MaxStream, we are honoured to be recognised by Ernst and Young with this highly esteemed award", said Brad Walters, President and CEO of MaxStream.

"The Utah technology industry is quickly becoming a global beacon for entrepreneurship and we are proud to play a role in this growing economy".

Since being founded in 1999, MaxStream has experienced accelerating growth as the demand for embedded wireless communications technology has dramatically increased.

MaxStream technology is incorporated by organisations ranging from small robotics manufacturers and security integrators, to multi-billion dollar military and industrial contractors.

In 2005, MaxStream was ranked third in the Computers and Electronics category of the prestigious Inc 500.

The Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards programme celebrates its 20th anniversary this year and continues to honour entrepreneurs who have demonstrated excellence and extraordinary success in areas such as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.

As a Utah award recipient, MaxStream is now eligible for consideration for the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2006 national programme to be held in Palm Springs, California on 18th November 2006.
