M-Systems and Picsel Technologies have announced a file viewing application for deployment on high-density SIM cards powered by M-Systems' MegaSIM platform The combination of high-density storage and Picsel's File Viewer is set to enable subscribers to seamlessly achieve a similar level of content richness on mobile handsets as they achieve on PCs, ultimately enabling smarter mobile services

Picsel's ePage technology lets subscribers view and seamlessly interact with just about every type of digital content on their mobile devices.

The first application scheduled to be available for the MegaSIM platform will be Picsel's File Viewer, providing flexible, cross platform file viewing to provide mobile subscribers with a similar level of document richness on small screens as on PCs.

Leveraging M-Systems' Flash expertise with its field-proven M-SafeT crypto core technology, globally trusted in millions of smart cards, the MegaSIM platform, incorporating M-Systems' TrueFFS Flash file management, combines high-density Flash storage (64Mbyte to 1Gbyte), processing power, high-speed data protocols and crypto functionality.

M-Systems' MegaSIM platform far enhances typical SIM architecture while maintaining full compatibility with legacy industry standards.

SIM cards powered by M-Systems' MegaSIM platform, such as M-Systems' M-SIM MegaSIM series, will provide MNOs with an intuitive, ubiquitous interface and a high-density, high-speed platform.

By deploying these SIM cards, MNOs can increase revenue streams, while at the same time offer a new sales channel for software developers and, last but not least, a smarter mobile usage experience for subscribers.

"Implementing our viewer on M-Systems' high-density MegaSIM platform will benefit MNOs and subscribers alike", said Grant Ballantyne, Director of Commercial Operations at Picsel.

"MNOs will be able to offer enhanced content services to their subscribers, which is crucial as content is becoming a significant engine of mobile market growth".

"Subscribers will benefit from a greatly enhanced content viewing and interactive experience".

"By offering high-density Flash memory, smart card security, high performance and processing power all within the SIM, M-Systems' MegaSIM platform brings a unique value proposition to the mobile ecosystem", said Simone Cavallo, general manager of M-Systems' MNO division.

"In collaborating with Picsel, M-Systems is proud to contribute to a richer user experience for multimedia content that will drive the use of new applications, making mobile services smarter and enabling subscribers to enjoy the same quality on the move as if they were working on their home PCs".
