The National Microelectronics Institute (NMI) is holding the inaugural meeting of its Analogue and Mixed-Signal Design Forum on 16th December 2004.

The National Microelectronics Institute (NMI) has announced the inaugural meeting of its Analogue and Mixed-Signal Design Forum to be held on 16th December 2004.

Building on past forum successes in low power design and power electronics, the NMI continue to provide common interest forums in support of UK core competences.

"The uptake and interest at prior events has demonstrated a strong desire to capitalise on our key design strengths here in the UK", said NMI CEO Derek Boyd, "and as part of our mission to improve the prosperity of firms in the semiconductor sector, the NMI will continue to provide value-add activities to support the interests of firms here - it is of direct strategic importance to our region".

This first Analogue and Mixed-Signal Design Forum will cover aspects of analogue design across the entire supply chain from research, novel architectures and EDA tools through to process capability and systems in package (SIP).

Subsequent forums will focus in on particular priorities for those participating.

The UK has a formidable core competency in analogue/mixed signal design and manufacturing, together with a strong research base which provides the motivation for the event.

The objectives of the initiative are to facilitate awareness, collaborations and knowledge transfers within the UK's analogue community whilst avoiding compromising proprietary IP of those participating.

Interested parties are encouraged to contact the NMI to learn more of this free event and other semiconductor related design and manufacturing activities taking place in the UK and Ireland throughout 2005.
