Xilinx and Nallatech are shipping a new Xilinx XtremeDSP development kit for high-performance DSP system development.

Xilinx and Nallatech are shipping a new Xilinx XtremeDSP development kit for high-performance DSP system development The kit serves as an ideal development platform featuring Xilinx 2V2000 Virtex-II FPGAs, allowing designers to rapidly develop high bandwidth applications such as 3G wireless infrastructure, software defined radio (SDR) systems and smart antennas

The kit contains a hardware development platform, Nallatech's Fuse (field upgradeable systems environment) software, power supplies and cables.

The kit also includes the Xilinx XtremeDSP software evaluation kit, which includes tools such as Matlab/Simulink from The MathWorks, System Generator for DSP and ISE software from Xilinx, Synplify Pro from Synplicity and FPGA Advantage from Mentor Graphics.

"The XtremeDSP development kit with its pre-engineered hardware enables DSP designers to focus their efforts on sophisticated algorithm development.

By collaborating with a proven DSP system specialist like Nallatech, we are able to deliver this DSP solution to our customers more quickly thereby accelerating DSP solutions to market", said David Squires, director of the Xilinx DSP Centre of Excellence.

"With the addition of this new development kit, customers can now choose from over 30 DSP boards using Xilinx FPGAs".

The hardware development platform includes dual 14bit DACs operating at up to 160Msample/s combined with dual 14bit ADCs operating at 65Msample/s, demonstrating the high performance capability of Xilinx FPGA DSP solutions.

The interface to the hardware platform is provided through either a PCI or USB connection, providing engineers with flexibility in choosing interfaces.

With the purchase of the XtremeDSP development kit, customers are also provided with a single-device edition of Nallatech's Fuse software.

"This plug 'n play Fuse software allows for flexible and scaleable control and configuration of programmable systems, allowing rapid development of software applications for FPGA-based systems", said Dr Malachy Devlin, senior vice president and CTO at Nallatech.

The XtremeDSP development kit is available now for $1995.
