Three new COTS FPGA solutions extend performance density for applications including signal intelligence, software defined radio and C4ISR.

Nallatech has expanded its Xilinx Virtex-4 based range with three new COTS FPGA solutions that extend performance density for customers demanding PCI-104, high-density digital I/O and SRAM and high-speed analogue capture for applications including signal intelligence, software defined radio and C4ISR The new products comprise the BenNuey PCI-104-V4, a PCI-104 form factor computing stack, and two daughterboards, the BenIO- V4 and the BenADDA-V4

BenIO-V4 provides 152 digital IO lines, whilst the new BenADDA module delivers dual 105Msample/s ADC and dual 160Msample/s DAC capabilities.

These products build on the processing and I/O performance of the Xilinx Virtex-4 FPGA family and apply these benefits to the wide range of processing needs of the military and aerospace markets.

They ideally complement the four Virtex-4 based FPGA products announced by Nallatech in October 2005 and provide one of the widest range of V4 FPGA based COTS ranges available in the market.

"Nallatech's latest products specifically address the wide range of uses demanded by the military and aerospace industry, as evidenced by the growing need for FPGA-based computing in Sigint, SDR and C4ISR applications", said Craig Anderson, CEO of Nallatech.

"The features of the new solutions, in particular the emphasis on PCI-104 systems, are further proof of Nallatech's ability to deliver a comprehensive range of products to meet the demands of our customers".

Nallatech's Virtex-4 products support industry standard form factors, including cPCI, VME, PCI and PCI-104, delivering up to eight Virtex-4 FPGAs on a single COTS FPGA computing platform.

The BenNuey-PCI-104-V4 is specifically designed for size, weight and power (SWAP) constrained real-time PCI-104 embedded applications.

Based on a Virtex-4 FX User FPGA, the board features a 32bit/33MHz PCI interface and three Dime-II module expansion slots.

These slots allow for modular expansion up to seven user FPGAs plus I/O options, supporting Xilinx Virtex-4, Virtex-II Pro and Virtex-II devices using Nallatech's Dime-II modules.

Digital I/O is provided using an Ultra SCSI connector.

BenNuey-PCI-104-V4 supports Linux and Windows, and is compatible with Nallatech's Fuse FPGA Computing Runtime software.

It is also compatible with multiple FPGA design flows, for easier application development and ready access to its enhanced functionality.

The BenIO-V4 Dime-II expansion module offers up to 152 digital I/O lines, configurable for single-ended or differential operation, plus 16Mbyte DDR-II SRAM.

Based on an onboard Virtex-4 User FPGA, this high performance module offers 4Gbyte/s total SRAM bandwidth.

The module is compatible with Nallatech cPCI, VME, PCI and PCI-104 motherboards, adding high-speed external digital I/O, with configuration flexibility to meet application requirements.

For applications requiring a high performance analogue interface, Nallatech has introduced the BenADDA-V4 Nallatech Dime-II expansion module.

The module features two ADC channels (14bit at 105Msample/s) and two DAC channels (14bit at 160Msample/s) as well as 16Mbyte DDR-II SRAM.

This analogue I/O is coupled directly into the onboard Xilinx Virtex-4 user FPGA.

The module can be readily added to Nallatech cPCI, VME, PCI and PCI-104 motherboards.

Nallatech is offering its BenIO and BenADDA modules with a choice of user FPGAs.

Customers can specify either the Virtex-4 LX for high performance logic capability or the Virtex-4 SX family optimised for DSP performance.

These configurations allow developers to optimise FPGA hardware resources to meet their precise requirements across a diverse number of applications and build systems that meet needs for scalability and performance.

Both modules are supported in Nallatech's Fuse and Dimetalk software and development tools, and are compatible with multiple FPGA design flows for ease of development.
