ADC trio push for communications
applications
National Semiconductor has released three high-speed ADCs that address the demands of communications applications.
National Semiconductor has released three high-speed ADCs that address the demands of communications applications such as high bandwidth, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and spurious free dynamic range (SFDR) With their high-speed, high-bandwidth and low power consumption, these products are optimised for applications in cellular basestations, wireless modems, set top boxes and ultrasound imaging equipment

The ADC10D020 is a dual, low-power CMOS ADC that digitises signals to 10bit resolution at sampling rates of 20Msample/s, while typically consuming 150mW from a single 3.0V supply.
This device features 80dB channel-to-channel isolation, eliminating worries of crosstalk.
An offset correction feature on the ADC10D020 reduces the offset error to less than 1LSB.

Boomer shrinks stereo headphone amplification
New from National Semiconductor, the LM4811 Boomer audio amplifier is a 105mW stereo headphone amplifier for use in 3 and 5V systems requiring a headphone output and volume control.
This product provides both multiplexed and parallel outputs in twos-complement or binary formats, offering a great deal of flexibility.
The ADC10D020 is a good fit for IQ demodulation schemes.
Additionally, the power-down mode at 1mW and standby mode at 27mW help to lower system power consumption.
The ADC12L063 is a CMOS ADC capable of converting analogue input signals into 12bit digital words at 62Msample/s.
This product uses a differential, pipeline architecture with an on-chip sample-and-hold to enhance performance and minimise power consumption.
Operating off a single 3.3V supply, this device consumes a very low 354mW at 62Msample/s.
The ADC12L063 was designed for IF subsampling up to 150MHz in wireless basestation applications.
This device features performance comparable to BiCMOS products, but requires only half the power.
The ADC12L066 sets a new industry standard for CMOS pipeline ADCs with exceptional SFDR performance that goes beyond 300MHz, enabled by a 450MHz -3dB bandwidth.
The typical SFDR for 200MHz inputs is 72dBc.
The 12bit resolution and consistently high SFDR over a wide input bandwidth make the ADC12L066 ideal for higher IF subsampling communications receivers.
Operating on a single 3.3V supply, the ADC12L066 consumes only 354mW.
In the power-down mode, the power consumption is reduced to 50mW.
For input frequencies below 150MHz, the pin-compatible ADC12L063 provides equivalent performance to the ADC12L066.
Both the ADC12L066 and the ADC12L063 provide consistently high SFDR, enabling small signals to be recovered with minimal interference.
The ADC10D020 is now available in a 48-lead TQFP package and is priced at $5.75.
The ADC12L063 is available in a 32-lead LQFP and is priced at $17.10.
The ADC12L066, sampling now, is available in a 32-lead LQFP and is priced at $18.10.
All prices are for 1000-unit quantities.
