"Our Bluetooth stack partner programme allows National to concentrate on its core competency of designing and manufacturing silicon chips, while our partners provide our customers a choice of optimised software and stack solutions".
The term "Bluetooth stack" refers to layers of software used to implement various parts of the Bluetooth communications protocol.
Specifically, National's programme will address the software that typically executes on the host processor of a system, such as a PDA or PC, to which the Bluetooth hardware is attached.
"We are happy to join National Semiconductor, a recognised leader in silicon solutions for wireless communications, in integrating the total package system designers need for end product development.
Combining our skills in implementing Bluetooth solutions with National's silicon capabilities can only accelerate the deployment of Bluetooth wireless connectivity products", said Ron Wong, director, product marketing at Widcomm.
