Three new amorphous silicon thin-film-transistor liquid-crystal-display modules expand NEC's lineup of TFT colour LCDs for industrial use to meet a broader range of demands in this field.

NEC LCD Technologies will launch three new amorphous silicon thin-film-transistor liquid-crystal-display (TFT LCD) modules on the market within the second half of fiscal 2005, expanding its lineup of TFT colour LCDs for industrial use to meet a broader range of demands in this field.

The new models will comprise a 15.0in extended graphics array (XGA) TFT LCD, a 9.0in wide video graphics array (W-VGA) TFT LCD, and an 8.4in super video graphics array (SVGA) TFT LCD.

All three models support a wide operating temperature range, from -10 to +70C, guaranteeing stable operation even in the most extreme conditions.

In addition, all three LCDs realise colour input of 8bit RGB (16M colours).

The key features distinguishing each new model are as follows.

The NL10276BC30-18 is a 15.0in XGA TFT LCD supporting XGA resolution.

This model will achieve the highest level of luminance in NEC LCD Technologies' entire industrial range.

Other features include: high luminance of 500cd/m2; a wide viewing angle of 150 degrees horizontally and 130 degrees vertically; and a high contrast ratio of 450:1.

The NL8048BC24-01 will be the first 9.0in TFT LCD in NEC LCD Technologies' range to support W-VGA.

Other features include: high luminance of 400cd/m2; a wide viewing angle of 160 degrees horizontally and 140 degrees vertically; and a high contrast ratio of 500:1.

As the first 8.4in LCD to support SVGA resolution in NEC LCD Technologies' lineup, the NL8060BC21-02 also has the following features: high luminance of 400cd/m2; a wide viewing angle of 160 degrees horizontally and 140 degrees vertically; and a high contrast ratio of 500:1.

Screens boasting high levels of visibility, enabling clear display of a variety of information and facilitating ease of reading, are highly sought after in the industrial market.

This need has escalated in recent years with the diversity of installation locations and environments where appliances are used.

"NEC LCD Technologies positions itself ahead of the competition with an expanded range of LCDs for industrial use, developed specifically to support the industry's need for a broader range of sizes, resolutions and functions, which have been unavailable to date", said Hidetoshi Usui, Department Manager in Charge of Product Planning and Marketing, NEC LCD Technologies.

"By continuing to listen to the voice of the market and our customers worldwide, we will continue to enhance usabilty and expand areas of application by developing LCDs capable of operation in every possible environment".
