The NeoPhotonics facility in Shenzhen, China has received TL9000 certification.

NeoPhotonics, a leading global supplier of fibre optic component and module solutions for core, FTTx and other broadband networks, has announced that its facility in Shenzhen, China has received TL9000 certification TL9000 compliance is a critical requirement for providing network infrastructure solutions to most telecommunication services providers around the world, including the regional Bell operating companies (RBOCs) in the USA

It provides a consistent set of quality expectations that are needed to drive continuous efficiency and performance across the global telecomms supply chain.

Having earned both TL9000 and ISO9001 certifications, NeoPhotonics' Shenzhen facility has successfully passed the most up-to-date and stringent quality system requirements for the telecommunications industry.

Customers of TL9000 certified suppliers are assured of a quality management system that has been systematically audited by an independent TL9000 registrar.

It provides the basis for objective evaluations for supply decisions.

Moreover, the NeoPhotonics Shenzhen facility's conformance to TL9000 certification validates the quality of product, services and customer care that it provides.

"Attaining TL9000 certification is a key step in our continuous improvement global quality effort", commented Zhangyong Huang, President of Photon Technology/NeoPhotonics China.

"Today our quality initiatives include broad process methods in supply chain, manufacturing, product conformance and testing, customer service and product development".

"Our TL9000 certification is a realisation of the increasing effectiveness of these quality initiatives".

The TL9000 certification is but the latest recognition of the increasingly effective quality initiatives taken at Shenzhen, as earlier this year the Shenzhen facility received a "valued business partner" award from Mitsubishi Electric and an award of "best global partner" for 2004 from ZTE, a leading Chinese manufacturer of telecomms equipment.

"TL9000 certification helps NeoPhotonics provide the highest quality products and services available", said Paul Schroeter, Senior Vice President of Engineering and Operations at NeoPhotonics.

"In addition, the standard stipulates continued improvements that will ultimately streamline existing customer relationships, reduce costs and reinforce NeoPhotonics leadership position in delivering quality-assured fibre optic products".

The TL9000 standard was developed by the Quality Excellence for Suppliers of Telecommunications (QuEST) Leadership Forum.

Based on the global ISO9001 standard, the TL9000 standard contains almost 100 specific additions that are drawn from the best quality management systems and practices of its member companies.

Each of NeoPhotonics' manufacturing facilities is certified to the ISO9001:2000 standard.

NeoPhotonics' Shenzhen facility manufactures a broad range of active components including SFP, XFP and bidirectional transceivers and the company's leading edge planar lightwave circuit (PLC) components, many of which are used in fibre to the premise (FTTP) systems.

NeoPhotonics is currently pursuing TL9000 certification for each of its manufacturing facilities with all TL9000 assessments targeted for as early as March 2006.
