Low impedance capacitors take the heat

The key to the performance of the 2.7V ultracapacitor is its porous carbon electrodes.
NESS's proprietary and patented electrode manufacturing processes are responsible for the component's outstanding performance characteristics.

With approximately 10 times the power density of a similar sized battery and the capability of being charged and discharged over 100 times faster than a battery, ultracapacitors are finding their greatest uses as intermediate power sources, or battery performance enhancers.
Used in this manner, an ultracapacitor aids the primary power source or battery in two distinct ways.
First, it reduces the required battery size.
Second, it extends the effective life span of the battery.
Properly implemented in a power-sourcing scheme, the ultracapacitor delivers the peak power demanded by the load, allowing a smaller battery to be used as the primary power source.
Repeated high power demands are the primary cause of premature battery aging.
By supplying the peak load demands for the battery, the ultracapacitor helps the battery last longer.
NESS ultracapacitors are demonstrating very long life spans as well.
Samples subjected to more than 500,000 charge and discharge cycles show only a typical loss of capacitance (less than 20%) and even a smaller than typical increase in ESR (less than 2X).
The long life span of the NESS ultracapacitor means that it may never need to be replaced.
The ultracapacitor can help designers make their products meet their power performance objectives using smaller batteries that will last longer, while keeping the overall product size and cost to a minimum.
The simplicity and efficiency of NESS's patented electrode forming process allows NESS to produce electrodes readily and inexpensively, in a great variety of shapes and sizes.
This ability enables NESS to respond quickly to the ever-changing demands of its various market segments, and produce samples of new size and shape ultracapacitors very cost effectively.
