Handler gets fibres ready for QA testing
A new automated fibre handler enables optical fibre manufacturers to reduce production costs by automating time-consuming optical fibre stripping, cleaning, cleaving and temporary coupling operations.
The IP performance test suites enable users to measure the IP quality of service (QoS) of an IP device or network over a single or multiple streams.
NetTest has developed this novel multistream testing solution, allowing users to test real-life network scenarios, thereby ensuring IP QoS and SLA contracts.
"Given today's intense interest in everything-over-IP, the requirement to conduct multiple stream IP QoS testing in complicated networking scenarios is critical, as this network performance directly affects customer satisfaction and operating costs.
Monitoring and measuring this performance is a fundamental component of network operations, end-to-end SLA (service level agreement) verification and as a tool for MPLS traffic engineering and planning purposes", said Lei Wang, senior product manager, NetTest.
"Without this information, network operators lose the visibility to ensure that premium customers receive high QoS (quality of service) and the ability to prioritise mission-critical traffic".
The IP performance single-stream test suite measures QoS to IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) RFC 2544 specifications, including testing for connectivity, performance (throughput, latency, packet loss rate, back-to-back packets, interarrival) and interactive scenarios.
The IP performance multistream testing extends RFC 2544 to address real-world problems, by allowing simultaneous bidirectional IP QoS measurement on up to 1024 streams per port.
Features and benefits of the IP include: multistream IP QoS measurements across ATM, POS and Gigabit Ethernet for real-world networking scenarios; end-to-end SLA/SLS verification; IP priority verification; MPLS QoS measurements; and application prioritisation and QoS verification.
The interWatch IP performance test suites are available for immediate delivery.
