Vodafone Ireland has ordered a significant expansion of its MasterQuest GPRS monitoring system from NetTest.

Vodafone Ireland has ordered a significant expansion of its MasterQuest GPRS monitoring system from NetTest This expansion order has been placed only nine months after Vodafone's initial order for MasterQuest

Vodafone has also agreed to support the development of a GPRS key performance indicator (KPI) application by allowing its network to be used as the beta test site.

Michael Rasmussen, vice president, general manager, network management systems, NetTest, says: "Vodafone's agreement to support our development of a GPRS KPI application will allow us to accelerate development and ensure Vodafone's requirements are built into the product from day one".

Vodafone, Ireland's leading mobile phone operator with a customer base of over 1.7 million people, selected MasterQuest in 2001 to monitor its core network for voice and text services.

It is now expanding the coverage to include mobile data services and the interface to the radio network to achieve full coverage of A-Interface and the following GPRS interfaces: Gb, Gi and Gn.

This will extend the proven benefits of improved quality of service by providing its key decision-makers with further insights into the end-to-end performance of its network.

"Despite a large share of the wireless market in Ireland, we have to excel in all areas to stay ahead of the competition.

To ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction, we need to provide high quality voice, text and mobile data services in a cost effective manner and MasterQuest has already proven its value several times over", said John Kavanagh Director of Technology Operations, Vodafone Ireland.

"By making a further investment in the MasterQuest system, we are demonstrating our commitment to providing high quality services to our customers.

As the usage of GPRS services increases, MasterQuest will help us to be the leading network for new mobile data services".

"Receiving this expansion order so soon after installing the original system is very satisfying for all NetTest employees who have worked on this project.

It shows that our customers have confidence in our ability to support them as networks become more complex", said Rasmussen.

"This order strengthens our position as a supplier of monitoring systems to the Vodafone Group and confirms we were correct to focus on developing the world's leading system for simultaneous monitoring of GSM and GPRS services".
