Livingston has signed an agreement to provide NetTest's CMA5000 multilayer network test platform to the UK marketplace.

Livingston has signed an agreement to provide NetTest's CMA5000 multilayer network test platform to the UK marketplace.

The CMA5000 multilayer network test platform represents a telecommunication industry breakthrough that combines best-in-class performance and ease-of-use for accelerating the deployment of new services and reducing the total cost of measurement.

Through the open-architecture design of the CMA5000, NetTest offers the highest performance measurement applications in one powerful, modular platform that enables networks to be installed, commissioned and documented more efficiently with less cost.

In addition, the flexibility and scalability of the CMA5000 allows the platform to evolve with user testing needs and technology for addressing ever-changing telecommunication infrastructures.

The flexibility of the platform approach means that end-users can select and swap modules to build the right solution for their requirements.

This is ideal for rental too, enabling companies to either configure to individual, focused needs or to ship a multifunctional set to cater for a customer's complete installation process.

"Livingston has had a successful track record with other products from NetTest including the CMA5000's predecessor, the CMA4000.

The CMA5000 is a natural progression.

It is a plug and play box and easy to configure which lends itself well to the rental market.

It can be configured for network commissioning and has everything needed for fibre characterisation.

It has a common GUI so if a user is accustomed to operating say the PMD module, there are no training issues if they upgrade it to CD or OTDR", said Bernard Ellett, International Development Director, Livingston.

"There are several benefits with the new CMA5000 that are particularly interesting for our customers.

Firstly, the CMA5000 reduces the need for multiple test products.

It is a flexible platform for future technologies.

It has strong technical advantages such as the improved OTDR resolution and increased speed of carrying out measurements.

This could bring major time saving benefits in the process of the bringing into service of fee-paying traffic.

Another advantage is that it is available now", said Ellett.

"Livingston enjoys an excellent working relationship with NetTest.

They have listened and provided for our unique needs, and in so doing they have enabled us to address the demanding needs of our customers.

NetTest has established themselves as a benchmark by which Livingston can judge it's other suppliers", Ellett added.

Commenting on the agreement, Dave Mehta, director of channel sales - Northern Europe, Middle East and Africa for NetTest, said: "With the CMA5000, NetTest has designed the industry's next generation network test platform by listening closely to our customers.

They need the ability to quickly deploy new services and respond to the evolving requirements of their customers.

Consequently, NetTest has created the CMA5000 with applications that range from OTDR, OSA and Dispersion to BER and Gigabit Ethernet test, making the CMA5000 the ideal solution for addressing the multiple layers of communication networks".
