Austrian network operator tele.ring has awarded a contract to NetTest for the delivery of a UMTS active service quality monitoring solution.

Austrian network operator tele.ring has awarded a contract to NetTest for the delivery of a UMTS active service quality monitoring solution.

With focus on optimisation of GSM/GPRS/UMTS network and service performance, the RCATS system will empower tele.ring to actively monitor and improve the quality of basic voice services while verifying the availability and quality of data and messaging services.

The active test solution will help tele.ring assure network quality through automated and centralised service monitoring, testing and reporting.

The RCATS system reduces the time and risks of installing or modifying network infrastructure by providing extensive recursive testing capability.

"Ongoing real-time verification of subscriber service quality for UMTS and GSM/GPRS networks is a powerful tool for business optimisation", said Jorgen Weber, Vice President and Head of the Systems Business Unit of NetTest.

"Consistently securing high availability of services is a must for any 2G/3G service provider wishing to grow their business and ensure customer satisfaction".

"Adding a proactive and continuous quality monitoring function for 2G/3G services truly matches the needs of service providers in this space and helps them provide better service to their customers".

The RCATS UMTS solution is fully compatible with the existing 2G and 2.5G solution, which enables service providers to validate service availability and quality in converged networks across GSM, GPRS and UMTS access technologies.
