A Wipro-NewLogic product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team May 21, 2007

Cadence Design Systems has integrated Wipro-NewLogic's IEEE802.11a/b/g MAC and modem into its Low-Power Methodology Kit.

Cadence Design Systems has chosen Wipro-NewLogic's IEEE802.11a/b/g MAC and modem for integration into its Low-Power Methodology Kit.

By selecting Wipro-NewLogic technology, Cadence will offer the kit with a real-world representative design for 802.11 WLAN-enabled communication SoC solutions.

"Our WLAN IP enables Cadence to demonstrate that their Low-Power Methodology Kit is well suited for the development of complex SoC solutions that address low power wireless applications like VoWLAN and mobile multimedia clients", said Mana Coste, Marketing Director at Wipro-NewLogic.

"Our unique approach of an all-digital radio interface allows for a faster development time since the WLAN block will be free of any analogue circuitry such as the ADC/DAC or even the WLAN PLL".

The Cadence Low-Power Methodology Kit provides a comprehensive solution set specifically targeted at low-power designs.

It enables engineers of all experience levels to incorporate advanced low-power techniques into their design while reducing risk, cost and development time.

The Low-Power Methodology Kit comes with a wireless segment representative design for a chip that allows customers to go through a real-world example of a low-power chip design, even if Wipro-NewLogic's IP inside the kit has been obscured and does not have the full functionality of the production version.

The Wipro-NewLogic IP solution not only features low-power operation, but also includes support for the latest Wi-Fi specifications like WPA2TM and WMM.

Customers can contact Wipro-NewLogic directly for production licence information.

"We selected Wipro-NewLogic as supplier for the WLAN IP in our Low-Power Methodology Kit because we wanted a proven and mature solution that fully complies with the IEEE 802.11 a/b/g standards", said Bruce Jewett, Vice President, Product Marketing, Vertical kits at Cadence.

"We also value the fact that their expertise covers the whole spectrum of a wireless transceiver: from software to signal processing, digital design as well as RF".
