Reference platform is certified for
Wi-Fi
First IP vendor to achieve Wi-Fi certification for a complete WLAN solution including the MAC, modem and radio.
The WiLD IP VD4 reference platform from Wipro-NewLogic has been Wi-Fi Certified for IEEE802.11a, IEEE802.11b, IEEE802.11g, WPA - Personal, WPA2 - Personal, WMM, IEEE 802.11d and IEEE 802.11h The VD4 reference platform implements the Wipro-NewLogic WiLD MAC and modem IP in an FPGA and uses a test chip for the WiLD Eagle radio IP

IP core family is Wild about wireless LANs
NewLogic has a new family of products targeted at wireless LAN (WLAN) applications.
The platform was configured as an external adapter card connecting via a CardBus interface to a PC.
"We are proud to be the first IP vendor to achieve Wi-Fi certification for a complete WLAN solution including the MAC, modem and radio", says Senthil Murugesan, Vice President and CEO at Wipro-NewLogic.
"Certification of our IP reference platform will make certification of an end product that uses the IP much easier, which reduces significantly the risk for our customers".
The WiLD IP provides a silicon-proven solution for designing a complete 802.11 WLAN interface.
It is comprised of the MAC hardware and software, modem and the radio.
The IP supports both the 2.4GHz 802.11b/g as well as the 5GHz 801.11a WLAN standards.
Implementation of the 802.11d and 802.11h standards enables products that can meet world wide the regulatory requirements.
Compliance with the Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM) specification provides interoperable Quality of Service (QoS) and enhanced multimedia capabilities.
The WiLD IP can be configured either for station or for access point mode.
"Achieving Wi-Fi Certified status is a clear indication that Wipro-NewLogic is committed to interoperability and customer satisfaction", says Karen Hanley, Senior Director, Wi-Fi Alliance.
"This has become an important criterion to effectively compete in the enterprise and consumer markets".
The all CMOS radio makes the WiLD IP suitable for SoC integration as well as single-chip external devices.
Alternatively, the MAC and Modem can be integrated into an all-digital device, since the radio has on-chip ADC and DAC and uses a digital interface to the modem.
A license to do FPGA-only implementations of the MAC and modem is available, too.
Target products include consumer electronics like digital still cameras or MP3 players, PC clients and access points, as well as industrial, automotive and aero-space applications.
